Building Community Together

James Bay Community Project is a non-profit community organization helping seniors, youth and families by providing counselling services, community support and volunteer services. JBCP has several tenants providing services to the community: the Victoria Health Co-operative, LifeLabs, HerWay Home and other independent providers of health services.

Capital City Volunteers (sister agency of JBCP) provides services and support to seniors and adults with disabilities in Victoria. They were chosen as the charity of the month for September 2017 by Heirloom Linens Canada. They are launching a new Merit Jacquard Towel program and 50% of the proceeds were donated to Capital City Volunteers.

Heirloom Linens is a locally owned business in the Broadmead Village Shopping Centre. Bob and his wife opened their bedding and bath linen store in 1995. In May of 2015 they began a program called “12 Months of Giving”. This was to celebrate 20 years of the community supporting their business and was their way of giving back. They try to choose small, local nonprofit organizations, ones that don’t get a lot of media attention. Each month they promote an item (example – sheet set, duvet, or pillows) with 50% of the net proceeds from the sales of that item(s) going to the chosen “Charity of the Month”.
