And we have a winner…

The Raffle winner is  a mom who comes to Welcome Playgroup! Here’s our own Kristyn Laver drawing the winning ticket. The raffle raised more than $100 to add to our Giving Tuesday totals. Thanks again for Pharmasave for the beautiful gift basket worth more than $100 and to its first winner, who donated it back to JBCP for the raffle.

This is the beautiful basket the winner will be taking home.

*Reminder* Chair Yoga has wrapped up Dec. 10

Mondays @1:30 pm

Chair yoga is ideal for seniors, pregnant women and anyone lacking the balance or physical strength to tolerate a traditional yoga class. Music will be used and the tone of the class is fun and somewhat social, making it great for people in need of connection and not ideal for people who are sensitive to sound.
Chair yoga is an adaptation of regular yoga in which exercises are done while sitting or holding onto a chair. By providing extra stability, the chair reduces anxiety and makes yoga a safe exercise for most older adults.
Uplifting music is incorporated into the class to create a fun and relaxing atmosphere for people to move in and socializing is encouraged. While balancing an individual’s physical, mental and emotional health, chair yoga increases strength, flexibility and concentration along with many other health benefits.
This class will be limited to 15 participants. As this is not a program that requires registration, to be sure of a spot/chair, early arrival is the best approach.
Mondays 1:30-2:30pm
October 15 – December 10, 2018
$5.00 Drop-in fee
Free for JBCP and CCV volunteers

2018 Volunteer Fair

JBCP Coordinator of Volunteers and Community Programs, Kristyn Laver, spoke to UVic students and others interested in volunteering at the Oct. 4 Volunteer Fair at the UVic SUB.

Have you seen our little children’s garden bench?

Lovingly made by one of our generous volunteers who donated his time and materials to make a bench for our children’s playground and garden.

It has been missing from our Family Centre playground since the end of August 2018 (along with some Little Tykes plastic play equipment).

Please contact us at 250-388-7844 Ext 313 or nsmith@jbcp.bc.ca if you have seen it. We would love to have it returned! Thank you.

From our clients

  • As a result of the program I have met other parents and made good friends in the neighbourhood. It’s an excellent resource for parents.
