We have approximately 350 volunteers with a wide variety of skills and ranging in age from teenagers to elders. We place a strong emphasis on providing supportive and inclusive volunteer opportunities so everyone can contribute to the community, develop meaningful experiences and make connections.

Community Living Volunteers are an integral part of JBCP, coming weekly to make soup, bake goodies, garden, sort clothes, clean and help us with shopping. Along with individuals and their support workers, groups of volunteers come from Frederick Ozanam Centre, Community Living Victoria, Garth Homer, Future’s Club, BeConnected and InclusionWorks!.

We believe that volunteering is a two way street that benefits both the individual and the organization and builds connected community. There are lots of reasons people volunteer. Many people walk through our doors in response to posted opportunties. Some volunteers come with a particular skill and offer to share their abilities, while other volunteers are looking to build new skills. Some folks want to meet others and/or give back to their community.

If you are interested in volunteering, please book an information/intake session with the Coordinator of Volunteers and Community Programs, Kristyn Laver at 250.388.7844 Ext. 308 or by email at klaver@jbcp.bc.ca.
