Parent & Child Groups

This group is for new mothers and their babies up to the age of about 7 months (or crawling). This free 10-week group runs three times per year. Topics covered include: joys and challenges, nutrition, car seat safety, baby growth and development, etc. It’s a friendly relaxed group that offers support, friendship, and guest speakers on baby-related topics.

  • Pre-registration only. There are no drop-ins at this time.

This group runs on Thursdays from 12:30 – 2 p.m. (unless otherwise noted).

This free six-week positive parenting program is offered several times per year.  It’s based on what parents want to learn about, and it’s a safe place to meet other parents with children the same age and with whom they share interests and concerns. Mutual support, interactive, strengths-based and fun.

Come and learn some songs, stories, rhymes and fingerplays with your baby from birth to 12 months. This is a fun and relaxing 10-week program run by a trained facilitator. A healthy snack is served for parents and babies.

Children’s Play Groups

Playgroups (For families with children birth to 5 years):

Our playgroup programs offer many free play activities such as playdough, painting, collage, puzzles, books, toys as well as outdoor play. A healthy snack is served around 10:30 a.m. for children. Join our circle for songs and fingerplays after snack or have a little more playtime outside before it’s time to say goodbye.

Playgroups run from Monday to Friday 9-11:15 a.m. Please note:

  • Pre-registration only. There are no drop-ins at this time.
  • Families may register for one specific group/day of the week.
  • Exceptions may be made if space allows.

Normally, Family Dinner is a weekly playgroup/space where families (with children up to age 12) can connect with one another and share a healthy meal.  However, due to Covid, our Family Dinner is operating as a take-out dinner on Tuesdays between 4:30-5:30 p.m. Families can sign up to come by and pick up a free delicious, healthy meal.

Older Children & Youth

This social skills program is for children aged 8-11 years. It usually runs for six weeks after school and there are several sessions throughout the year. Children must be registered to participate and learn about making friends, exploring identify and self-confidence. Topics are addressed through play, art, brainstorming, team building and group activities. A snack is provided.

Parent Support, Education & Counselling

Family Outreach workers can offer information and one-to-one support to children, youth, parents and families with children from birth to 19 years in James Bay, Fairfield, Oak Bay and Central Victoria.

Family & Child Services

The Child, Youth and Family Outreach Workers offer support and information. The Outreach Workers help explore strengths and needs, connect to resources, identify goals, and provide advocacy and support to make changes. Outreach services can take place at The Project, at your home, in schools or community settings. Several times a year we offer groups such as: Cool Cues and Nobody’s Perfect. The Outreach Workers are available to families and youth living in James Bay, Fairfield, Oak Bay and Central Victoria.
