Family Centre Programs
The JBCP Family Centre is a welcoming and supportive place where families with young children can find information, support and programs for their family. The Family Centre offers a well-equipped children's play space and many resources for parents. It provides a caring and friendly place for parents, caregivers, grandparents and volunteers to meet and enjoy activities, learn and share information about parenting, and become involved in their community.

Youth and Family Outreach Services
The Youth & Family Outreach Worker offers support to youth 13-19
years old and their families. Our aim is to help families build
strengths and promote resilience. We provide support,
information, mediation, advocacy, mentoring, and referrals.

The Family Centre is part of a provincial network of Family Resource Programs, which are based on principles of:
Promotion of Healthy Parenting
FRP's focus on strengthening parents to be healthy and nurturing, by providing information, support and connections in their community.
Interdependence
FRP's recognize that every family needs help at some time, and is able to give help and support at other times.
Importance of Play
FRPs educates parents on the importance of creative play opportunities for their child's development.
Accessibility
FRP's aim to be open and accessible to all parents.

Drop In Programs for Parents of Children Birth To Six
Creative Play Drop In
A drop in program which offers many free play activities such as painting, collage, playdough, dress-up, puzzles, books and toys as well as outdoor play. A healthy snack is served midway through the program. Parents and children are encouraged to join a Circle Time with songs, finger plays and stories. Support for this program comes from the Provincial Employees Community Services Fund.
Toddler Time Drop In
This drop in play program is suited to younger toddlers (age 30 months and under) and their parents. Children's play activities, snack, and circle time are all part of the morning.
Cost: There is no cost for these programs, but we suggest a $1 donation to help cover the costs of coffee, snacks & supplies. Parents are also encouraged to bring a healthy contribution to snack time (fruit, veggies, crackers).
No registration is required for drop-in programs.
Parent Education, Support and Counselling
The Family Centre offers several parent education and support groups as well as counselling for families. There is no cost for these programs, but parents are asked to register in advance for these programs.

The Baby Group
The Baby Group provides support and information for parents with children from birth to seven months. The program offers speakers, videos, fun and friendship with other new parents.
Parent-Child Mother Goose
Rhymes, songs and finger plays for parents and their babies in a relaxed setting. No cost. Snack provided. Wednesdays, 12:30 - 2:00. Please phone to register.
Counselling for Families
The Family Support Program offers counselling, information and support to families wanting to work on parenting or family concerns. A counsellor will work with you and/or your child in your home or at the Family Centre to explore family strengths and needs, and to provide information and support to make changes.
