Community & Volunteer Services

Seniors Outreach

Outreach is available to senior community members in James Bay who are experiencing health related changes and challenges and are living independently without the support of family/friends.

Outreach services include:

  • Assessing eligibility and, if appropriate, making arrangement for Volunteer Services (such as: reading for the visually impaired, assisted medical drives, gardening, assisted errands, friendly visiting, walking companion);

  • Identifying additional community resources to meet the seniors needs;

  • Providing information on services and programs;

  • Encouraging participation in community activities to reduce isolation; and

  • Making referrals to other appropriate services.

 The outreach worker may provide additional support on a case by case basis.
