Community & Volunteer Services

Volunteer Opportunities

JBCP has a long history of community participation, and offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities. The wonderful thing about volunteering is that it is a two way street - the volunteer provides a service, friendship, skills, and in return gains new knowledge, friends, experience and better connections in the community.

Why not volunteer a few hours a month to serve your community, keep your mind and body active and healthy, meet new people and have fun!

Contact Volunteer Coordinator Catriona Campbell (ccampbell@jbcp.bc.ca or               250 388-7844 Ext 308) to enquire about volunteer options such as the following:

  • The Community Closet, our Thrift Store
  • The JBCP Community Library
  • Direct Services such as driving seniors to appointments, friendly visiting
  • Preparing Income Tax returns for low income residents
  • Assisting in our Family Programs or Seniors Connections Program
  • Offering a health related workshop or group such as meditation or yoga
  • Cooking soups, muffins or preparing snacks for our programs
  • Sorting and bagging bread and other foods for our Food Cupboard
  • Providing childcare
  • Teaching computer skills
  • Helping care for our gardens, or with handyman projects
  • Serving on our Board of Directors
  • Helping with fundraising or special events
